Google Worries About MicroHoo But Upset About HopHunt.com
Richard McBuffet says, "Google worry about the Merging of Microsoft and Yahoo (MicroHoo) but quite upset about this new little website...
First, it is not surprising why Google will worry about this MicroHoo deal thing...
Yahoo is the number one most trafficked site on the Internet, Windows Live is in third place and Google is only in fourth place according to Alexa Traffic Rank.
MicroHoo can easily monetize their combine traffic and offer search to their users... this could lead to significant decline in Google user search traffic.
Plus, Microsoft can also easily monetize their desktop applications and put search box in each one of them. That could lead to further decline in Google user search traffic.
Is it the end of Google dominance in search engine world or is it the beginning of its extinction?
Maybe not.
According to comScore June 2007 Search Engine Ratings in the United States for June 2007... Google still got the share of the big pie:
Google Network: 49.5%, down from 50.7% in May 2007
Yahoo Network: 25.1%, down from 26.4%
Microsoft Network: 13.2%, up from 10.3%
MicroHoo Network: 38.30%
But take note that Microsoft Network share is rising and if that trend will continue, soon MicroHoo will steal much of Google Network's share of the big pie.
Still, that would take years of battle before Google lose its dominance in search engine world...
But why is Google upset about HopHunt?
Well, we don't exactly know where this news lose break on the first place.
We don't really care if Google really upset about HopHunt but still we would like to know the real score...
Maybe, it's because HopHunt offers $100,000 free ppc ads and that would mean or lead to significant decline in Google Adwords advertisers.
Let's say, 1000 advertisers will grab the $100,000 free ppc offer, that would mean a potential lose of $100 Million income by Google.
What if 10000, 20000, 50000, 100000 and more advertisers will grab the $100,000 free ppc offer? Just do the math.
Now, is it the beginning of Google extinction?
Not really.
Well, HopHunt doesn't ring a bell and it doesn't have much traffic.
Who cares?
But with the rising cost of pay-per-click (ppc) ads and of paid traffic, HopHunt free ppc offer is very hard to resist, indeed.
When Google started on the Internet it didn't have much traffic also but now is in fourth most trafficked site on the entire Internet.
Think about HopHunt... one, two, or three years from now, it is no doubt it will also get more traffic and steal some of the share of the big pie.
But still, that would take years to prove and Google won't bother anyway about HopHunt.
The only thing that bothers Google right now is MicroHoo, the merging of two Online Behemoth Microsoft and Yahoo.
