Microsoft To Improve MSN Messenger
Microsoft announced on Tuesday that it has purchased a small Internet calling start-up called Teleo, as part of a move to expand the capabilities of MSN Messenger.
Microsoft is trying to add new feautres to its MSN messenger. MSN is being developed similar to Skype which allows users to call ordinary phone numbers all over the world through the internet.
Microsoft has bought Teleo. A key part of Teleo’s technology is the facility to make calls from a computer to an ordinary telephone. The company executives say that the feature of making calls from a computer to an ordinary telephone will be included in MSN Messenger before the end of 2005.
The Teleo technology will also let Microsoft build click-to-call links into the MSN service. This will help local search results and the computer can be used to call a pizza parlor or flower shop.
