A Nature investigation study has found that Wikipedia science entries are as accurate as Britannica entries.

The study conducted by a Nature investigation has found Wikipedia as accurate as Britannica in terms of its science entries.

For its study, Nature chose articles from both sites in a wide range of topics and sent them to “relevant” field experts for peer review. The experts then compared the Wikipedia and Brittanica articles. The experts were not told which article came from which site. Nature got 42 reviews from its field of experts.

“The exercise revealed numerous errors in both encyclopaedias, but among 42 entries tested, the difference in accuracy was not particularly great: the average science entry in Wikipedia contained around four inaccuracies; Britannica, about three.” [source]
