Microsoft’s Internet Explorer has the top global usage rate (85.82%) in January 2006, according to OneStat. Mozilla Firefox was second in the list with 11.23%.


Microsoft’s Internet Explorer has the top global usage rate (85.82%) in January 2006, according to OneStat. Mozilla Firefox was second in the list with 11.23%.

Apple Safari, Opera and Netscape followed in the list with 1.88%, 0.77% and 0.16% respectively.

The report also revealed the most popular browsers in the USA. Internet Explorer was on top of the list with 80.91%. Mozilla Firefox was second with 12.55%.

Apple Safari, Opera and Netscape followed in the list with 3.82%, 0.80% and 0.28% each.

Niels Brinkman, co-founder of OneStat.com, said: “The global usage shares of Mozilla and Microsoft’s Internet Explorer browsers remain stable and it seems that people on the internet are not switching so often to Firefox as before.” [Source]

In November 2005, IE’s global usage was 85.45% compared to Mozilla with 11.51%. Also, in the list of the most popular browsers in the USA in November, IE was on top of the list with 80.73% whereas Mozilla was second with 14.07%.
