24% of adult rural Americans went online at home with high-speed internet connections compared with 39% of adults in urban and suburban areas, according to a survey conducted by Pew Internet and American Life Project.

The Pew Internet and American Life Project surveyed 5,262 U.S. adults.

The findings of the survey include:

39% of urban and suburban dwellers had broadband last fall.

62% of country dwellers use the Internet, compared with 70% elsewhere.

Preferred online activities of rural internet users are paticipating in online education and downloading games.

They give less preference to banking online or buying travel tickets online.
