AOL will begin to offer a pay-per-download service by the middle of this year. This service will be an expansion of its existing free, advertising supported video-on-demand service. The starting price will be $1.99.

According to Kevin Conroy, executive vice president of AOL Media Networks, “The service will initially sell shows for about $1.99 per download and aims to move to a variable pricing structure, where hit shows would carry a higher price”. [source]
