According to Nielsen/NetRatings, “online search conducted across approximately 60 search engines in the U.S. rose 39 percent year-over-year in January 2006 from four billion searches to nearly 5.7 billion, the highest number of online searches to date”. [source]
Nielsen/NetRatings data indicate that 4,085,880 searches were made in January 2005 and 5,699,528 searches were made in January 2006. This is a 39% year-on-year growth.
The increase in growth rate for Google, Yahoo and MSN are:
Google 1.1% increase since January 2005.
Yahoo 0.9% increase.
MSN -1.8% – decline of over 1%
