Microsoft has acquired Onfolio. The Onfolio Add-in for the Windows Live Toolbar beta is meant for collecting information online and organizing it on PCs so as to access it in documents, email messages and blog postings. Onfolio also has a RSS aggregator and reader.

Information collected through Onfolio Add-in can be organized and annotated with research notes, flags, keywords and highlighting.

Data can be found using Windows Desktop Search and shared.

Onfolio has an integrated Really Simple Syndication (RSS) aggregator and reader.

Christopher Payne, corporate vice president of Windows Live Search at Microsoft, said: “The Onfolio technology is a strategic investment for Microsoft because it helps deliver on our Windows Live mission. It does this by furthering our investments in Web and desktop search and by giving users an easy way to retain, organize and consume information as they’re browsing across the Internet”. [source]

J.J. Allaire, founder of Onfolio, said: “Onfolio’s core competency is providing users with the tools to enable them to save, collect and share that information as they conduct research on the Internet. We are thrilled to be integrated into Microsoft’s Windows Live products and to continue to help people efficiently capture and organize information on the Web”. [source]
