USA.net has launched USA.net Encrypted Email. Subscribers will be able to encrypt and digitally sign all outgoing email messages by clicking a button in their existing email application.

Users who use Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express can subscribe to this service. Non-subscribers can also receive and decrypt email messages without having to download any software or registering for the service.

David Ramon, president and chief executive officer of USA.net, said: “USA.NET encrypted emailSM provides desktop-to-desktop encryption; a critical security service for all business email users who need to protect the confidentiality of information and remain in compliance with privacy legislation. With this solution, we offer a simple, efficient and secure service.” [Source]

The Encrypted Email service is part of USA.net’s Enhanced Messaging Service Suite. It verifies that the incoming message has not been altered, allows the message to be opened only by the recipient for which it is intended, and allows users to lock incoming messages to prevent others from viewing it.

The service can be installed by downloading a plug-in.
