Google has launched the beta version of Google Finanace for company-related searches. Google Finanace provides financial information related to companies, interactive charts as well as comments from bloggers and Discussion Groups moderated by community advocates.

Engineers from Bangalore and finance enthusiasts in Mountain View and New York have worked on this project.

The advantages of Google Finance according to the Official Google Blog are:

To use Google Finance it is not necessary to remember ticker or mutual fund symbol of the companies.

Users can obtain relevant results by searching for a company or mutual fund by name.

There are interactive charts. Users can click on the chart, drag it and view the different parts similar to Google Maps.

AC Narendran & Katie Jacobs Stanton, Google Finance team, have posted on the blog: “You’ll find interactive charts that enable you to zoom through different time periods, headlines mapped right on the charts and are based on Google News, which means you’re seeing unbiased and relevant results from more than 4,500 English-language news sources.

And you’ll get insightful comments from bloggers about public and private companies, plus Discussion Groups moderated by enthusiastic community advocates, which should foster some quality exchanges about the companies you care about”. [source]
