Internet Ad Spending Increases 66% in 2005
Internet ad spending has increased 66% to $2.39 billion in 2005, according to the Internet Advertising Bureau. This gives it a 7.8% market share.
Internet ad spending has increased 66% to $2.39 billion (₤1.37 billion), according to the IAB. This gives it a 7.8% market share, compared to 4.9% market share in 2004.
According to the IAB, online classified ads increased 62.4% to ₤ 262.2 million.
Guy Phillipson, chief executive of IAB, said: “These figures surpassed all our initial expectations. Our next milestone is 2 billion pounds — a real possibility within the next 12 months, which would make online bigger than national press.” [Source]
Search marketing increased 78.8% to ₤ 768.4 million. Online recruitment ads comprised 22% of the ad market followed by finance (17.4%), automotive (12.4%) and entertainment and media (10.2%).
