Verizon Business has launched the Hosted Secure Instant Messaging service. Hosted Secure IM is an IM service for enterprises, with security against Trojans and viruses.


Verizon Business has launched the Hosted Secure IM service. Hosted Secure IM is an IM service for enterprises, with security against Trojans and viruses.

Hosted Secure IM maintains security and technology levels. Customers can manage employee’s use of IM in a workplace.

According to Verizon, its Hosted Secure IM helps stop online threats such as Trojans, viruses and spam before they enter a company’s network.

Ed McGuinness, chief marketing officer of Verizon Business, said: “Verizon Business is helping companies transform their businesses with IP solutions like Hosted Secure IM.

With our one-of-a-kind offering, we are making IM a viable tool for the enterprise, while extending our collaboration and communications platform to deliver integrated IP applications with enhanced functionality for end-users.” [Source]

Hosted Secure IM service is available in two options:

Enterprise Instant Messaging and
Managed Public Instant Messaging

Enterprise Instant Messaging is for companies that require a complete IM service which operates within their networks. It provides user authentication and search capabilities and Microsoft Outlook integration.

Managed Public Instant Messaging is for companies which use public IM systems, including Yahoo, MSN and AOL. Using this service, companies can restrict some users from accessing certain IM networks and allow others to access them.
