Sales of 5,851 domain names have generated $29 million in 2005. In the first three months of 2006, 1,949 names have generated $14.2 million, according to Domain Name Journal magazine.

Warren Adelman, president of GoDaddy.com, said: “The domain name is 21st century real estate. The economy is being increasingly driven by the Internet sector.” [source]

Ron Jackson, publisher of Domain Name Journal, there are about 1,000 to 2,000 domainers involved in buying and selling of domain names.

Some of the domaiins that were resold this year include:

$635,000 – On.com

$550,000 – Macau.com

$242,400 – Mortage.com (mis-spelled domain name)

$500,000 – Blue.com
