Local web spending is predicted to reach $5.8 billion, according to Borrell Associates. The growth rate for 2005 was 78%.

The company has predicted that ad spending will grow 21 % this year. [source]

According to the report:

– Online revenues of newspaper sites was $2 billion last year
– Online revenue totaled 4 percent of all revenue for 10 of the largest newspaper Web sites
– Web sites of TV stations generated just $283 million
– Real estate, help wanted, and car ads have become more important to newspaper sites last year

Borrell defined: “local online advertising” as “advertising placed by locally based businesses for locally focused online messages.”
