One Fifth Broadband Subscribers Use Wi-Fi
One fifth broadband subscribers in the US and Europe use Wi-Fi, according to a report by Strategy Analytics. 7% of all households have a wireless network.
One fifth broadband subscribers in the US and Europe use Wi-Fi to share their internet connection between PCs, according to a report by Strategy Analytics. 7% (19 million) of all households have a wireless network.
David Mercer, Principal Analyst at Strategy Analytics, said: “Wi-Fi has become the preferred networking technology for affluent early adopters. Rising ownership of laptop PCs and other portable Internet devices will make Wi-Fi the dominant home networking choice for most broadband subscribers.” [Source]
The US tops the field with 8.4% penetration, followed by the Nordic region with 7.9% penetration. The UK has 6.1% penetration and Germany has 5.1% penetration.
