When in a Quandary… Where do You Start?

Question: Do you recommend selling on eBay as a business, or should I follow what you do? At this point, I’m in a quandary of where to start. Do I try eBay, or do what you do with AdSense and affiliate programs. Please advise. Thank you.

Answer: There are several ebooks and courses on how to become successful with eBay. It means that you’ll need access to physical or digital products, which you’ll need to buy or create, and then sell for a profit.

It’s not much different than running a brick and mortar business. You buy something from a wholesaler or manufacturer at a low price, mark it up, and sell it at a higher retail price. Usually it means packing and shipping the products, unless you hire a drop-shipping company to do the work for you.

The best eBay model is with something that you create yourself. That way, there’s an unlimited supply, and you can keep all the markup associated with the product.

I would stay away from AdSense as your primary source of revenue. It’s not as lucrative as it used to be, unless you’re really good at building content sites. But it still makes a good third or fourth ancillary revenue stream for most people.

The most important thing you can do, is build up a readership. Your subscribers will become your most important business asset.

Start small and write as with as much enthusiasm and energy as possible. If you truly have something to say, there are people that need to hear it. And if you can serve a small following, a large following will develop naturally as a result.

There’s also creating your own products. Developing web properties. Selling physical goods. Buying and selling domain names. AdSense revenue from content sites. And of course my personal favorite, affiliate programs. Read the complete post
