MySpace has filed a suit against Sanford Wallace for violatiing the CAN-SPAM Act and California’s anti-spam and anti-phishing acts.

Details

MySpace has requested the court for “a permanent injunction barring Wallace and his affiliated companies from the MySpace site in addition to unspecified monetary damages”.

In October 2006 Wallace gained access to the MySpace user profiles by implementing a phishing scheme, according to MySpace.

Wallace also created profiles, groups, and forums on MySpace to direct MySpace users to his own websites.

Sanford Wallace has been previously sued by AOL, Concentric Network Corp., CompuServe, and the Federal Trade Commission.

Hemanshu Nigam, chief security officer for MySpace, said: “Individuals who try to spam or phish our members are not welcome on MySpace. We will continue to aggressively protect our members through a combination of legal action, law enforcement pursuit, and technological enhancements”. source
