What is the difference between 20 sales and 2000 sales a month?

I just read an astounding article:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18290045/

I have never read of a price change in one or two retail product having such a sweeping effect… causing a sell off of stores owned by several of the nations largest electronics distributors, huge dropps in stock value, and major layoffs.

However, before you read that article consider this… the article is suggesting cause and effect and may be flawed in that there may be additional variables that have caused this beyond the “Wal-Mart effect.”

Though an article like this and the position it puts forth may be a great lesson to apply to your online business.

I consult companies every week… and the one thing I hear continually is how marketing gets more difficult over time.

Additionally, one of the major flaws in business owner thinking (in my opinion) is the short term mindset.

Too many people only think about short term gains instead of long term market position and lifetime value of customers.

So many people are too busy thinking of how much they can make on the front end and forgetting the back end potential of just getting a buyer in the door and building a relationship.

What is the difference between 20 sales and 2000 sales a month?

A no brainer offer.

Are you making your clients work hard to rationalize buying your products or are you placing before them an offer that is too good to refuse?

And then are you following up that purchase with the delivery value that is beyond even their initial expectations?

If you do this then you will have clients who will buy every poduct you offer.

Not only that but if you have an affiliate program and provide this type of value and increased conversion then affiliates will pound on your door begging to promote your company.

It you are starting to feel the “wal-mart” effect pushing in on your small digital product or web based service business…

Use the no-brainer and over delivery to push back.

I cannot emphasize this enough… it seems that the majority of the people I have been consulting lately do not realize the value of a loss leader and a good back end strategy.

Wal-Mart does… and unfortunately their competition was unprepared and they were easily destroyed in one marketing cycle because even the major electronics chains are living paycheck to paycheck.
