My Dirty Marketing Tactics

I’m just back from Bangkok, Thailand today. It’s been fun– visiting places and touching elephants. I’ll upload some nice pictures on my blog once they’re all sorted out. (smile)

Re: My ‘Dirty’ Marketing Tactics

There are a lot of useful marketing tactics you can read in books. No doubt on that but they are mostly theories.

And then, there are BETTER ways to learn the truth of marketing tactics from observation and practical case study.

What I’m going to share with you are 2 tactics I’ve been using to make my online business profitable in a different niche market.

First Tactic: How To Have Zero Inventory Cost

If you’re selling a physical info-product in discs, DVD’s, physical books, etc… you can follow this exact tactic I’m using.

Have you ever wonder why a product that can be shipped within 3 days is being shipped within 7 days instead?

“Once purchased, your product will be shipped within 7 working days.”

My ‘dirty’ trick to include this statement at the order page is because I do not keep any inventory. I don’t want to keep stocks. Products are produce on demand.

And most of the time, customers are not paying for the shipping only. They’re paying for “handling” as well that actually includes the production cost.

You’ll read a statement like:

“There will be a fee of $19.95 being charged for the shipping and handling cost”.

Any smart business owners wouldn’t want to keep inventories because it’ll tighten up their cashflow if products are not selling well.

Now you know why selling physical infoproducts is a good option to immediately increase your overall profit?

Is this unethical? I’m here to teach you about marketing but I’ll talk about moral values if required. It’ll be unethical if you’re not delivering what you have promised. That’s it.

If the customer reads the statement and agreed to it– you’re not cheating or lying, aren’t you?

Second Tactic: Free Paid Ad

Have you purchase a physical infoproduct before?

If yes, I would dare to say that you’ll read every single document in that package.

I do that.

And the reason I do that is because I’m PAYING for the package- Everything in it is paid.

What does that tells your brain?

Value it.

Imagine if you slip a salesletter in the paid package, I can bet that it’ll be read 100%.

What you’re getting here is a highly targeted prospect who enjoys reading your salesletter. And yes, reaching them for free too.

What else can be better than this?

To maximize your profit, make sure that your offer is related BUT not a confusing or irritating one. Put it this way, your customer are not interested and don’t want to pay you more money to learn more of what they have already purchased from you.
