(1) Theme – Transformation

Definition of Transformation: (1)The act of TTransforming, or the state of being Transformed; change of form or condition. (2) Change of one from of material into another, as in assimilation; metabolism; metamorphosis. (3) A change in disposition, heart, character, or the like; conversion.

I chose “Transformation” for this week’s theme for several reasons.

First, the business I have been involved with since summer has experienced a stunning Transformation. When I joined the group, we were aligned with a well known company that, when approached with suggestions for improvements, severed the relationship.

Second, I have recently read about and also experienced “ah ha” moments that trigger Transformationof the ways we think and live our lives.

Third, I feel that the movie, “The Secret,” has created a Transformative effect across the country. Through the media coverage, the books and those who are proponents of and users of the Law of Attraction, many attitudes and lives have been Transformrd.

Notice that each of the parts of the definition above use the word, “change.” We all know how difficult it is to change. And, yet, we have heard again and again that if we don’t change we will continue to have the same results over and over. If we are happy with our results, we should continue doing what we have always done. However, most of the people I know would be thrilled with a change for the better, but are afraid to try.

Have you experienced or started to work on a Transformation? It may consist of different areas of your life: physical, financial, educational, family, and emotional. The great news is that if one works on Transforming one of these areas, Transformation will occur in other areas, too. I have witnessed this so often at the gym. When a student of mine works on losing weight and achieving a high level of fitness, the benefits color other areas too.

(3) Creativity – The Beginning of Transformation Is in Your Imagination. “First comes thought; then organization of that thought, into ideas and plans; then Transformation of those plans into reality. The beginning, as you will observe, is in your imagination.” – Napoleon Hill, American writer

I know that we have been told time and time again that our lives, reality and everything we attract to us is a result of our thinking. Still, it never hurts to be reminded of how strong our thoughts are as influencers.

And, never forget that for Transformation to occur, we must take action. So, begin imagining. Then, take positive and definite action. You will start to experience TRANSFORMATION!

Don’t forget to let me know how it is working for you.

(4) Powerful Presentations – Powerful Speakers Are Also Healers Who Invest in Other People.

“Transformation in the world happens when people are healed and start investing in other people.” – Michael W. Smith, American musician

In my opinion, the most powerful of presenters are dedicated to not only encouraging listeners, but also to heal and invest in their listeners. Why? Because the top speakers care!

One speaker who comes to mind immediately is Zig Ziglar. I urge you to listen to some of his audio tapes and CDs. He gives of himself and his wisdom whether or not he is speaking in front of a group or in a one-on-one situation.

So as speakers we must ask ourselves how much we care about others. How can we help? I feel that we can serve as guides and mentors, and above all, give them hope. When people have hope, they will start the healing process.

Quotations

“When we quit thinking primarily about ourselves and our own self-preservation, we undergo a truly heroic Transformation of consciousness.” – Joseph Campbell, American author

The universe is Transformation; our life is what our thoughts make it.” – Marcus Aurelius, Roman soldier

Personal Transformation can and does have global effects. As we go, so goes the world, for the world is us. The revolution that will save the world is ultimately a personal one.” – Marianne Williamson, American author

If you say, I’m for equal pay, that’s a reform. But if you say. I’m a feminist, that’s a Transformation of society.” – Gloria Steinem, American activist

“I never told a victim story about my imprisonment. Instead, I told a Transformation story – about how prison changed my outlook, about how I saw that communication, truth, and trust are at the heart of power.” – Fernando Flores, Chilean politician

“Transformation literally means going beyond your form.” – Wayne Dyer, American psychologist

“It is all very well to copy what one sees, but it is far better to draw what one now only sees in one’s memory. That is a Transformation in which imagination collaborates with memory.” – Edgar Degas, French artist

“History is the Transformation of tumultuous conquerors into silent footnotes.” – Paul Eldridge, American educator

(6) Storytelling Power – True Storytellers Live from Their Hearts – Not Just from Their Heads “The message of Transformation and how we all can live from our heart, not just from our head, was a very important message for me to learn in my own life.” – Judith Light, American actress

Even though Judith Light is an actress, she could easily be speaking as a storyteller. I am convinced that the true storytellers who have presence and share stories that we will always remember, are the tellers who tell from their hearts – not their heads.

Make sure that as a teller, you always pick and work on stories that move your whole being. Stories that originate in our hearts are the stories that enhance our lives and the lives of our listeners. They are stories that hold truth fast and become a part of us and our daily living.

(7) Freelance Living – Are You a Free Agent Devoted to the Transformation of Humanity?

“In the kind of world we have today, Transformation of humanity might well be our only real hope for survival.” – Stanislav Grof, Czechoslovakian psychologist

As an independent professional, free agent and freelancer, it is so easy to become caught up in the busyness of our days and evenings – and even weekends – that we forget the importance of being givers and being devoted to helping humanity.

I submit to you that every little bit counts, and the more that we give in time and effort will come back to us many times over.

Pick a cause you care about and take small steps to help in some way. It doesn’t have to be a large donation of money. I guarantee that any small part you play to help another, will help you and your business more than you can imagine!

Let us hear about it.

(8) Letters and Feedback from You, Our Readers

I love receiving Feedback (even if you don’t agree with me), so, hit that reply key and let all of us enjoy the fun of hearing from you.

Feedback from a reader of the last issue:

Hi Chris,

Just got round to reading/skimming through your mail. Really like the idea of encouraging listeners to participate properly when you give a presentation. I’m thinking about how I can apply it also to my work with clients in general.

Thanks for the idea! Janet Gomez

Note from the editor: recap of section: I ask you – as a presenter, are you spurring your listeners to think and make use of their brains as an exerciser would use a muscle. I feel that it is our duty as speakers to challenge the brains in the audience to work hard enough to not only feel good, but also to understand.

I am not suggesting that we create confusion, but that we ask some of the hard questions and propose some of the thorny and thought provoking ideas that are so often missing from today’s presentations.

If you have any questions, send them along. If I can’t answer them, I am sure that there will be several readers who can. So send me your questions, and I will answer them here or on one of the websites.

Or, do you have an idea for a “theme” that I can discuss in an upcoming issue? Please send it along. I want this newsletter to be for you.
