Setting Up a Profitable Affiliate Marketing Email List

As an affiliate marketer, you can set up your promotional funnel just like any big product sellers do. There is nothing stopping you from creating relevant email lists that will allow you to build a large list of interested prospects that you can sell products to over and over again. In fact, this is one of the ways super affiliates make so much money.

Now there are many different ways to set up an email marketing list. So the first thing you’ll need to do is decide what kind of list you’ll create for your affiliate marketing efforts. Let’s look at several types…

1. A sales notice list. Setting up an email list which notifies subscribers of new sales, new products, discounts or coupons is an easy way to make more money from affiliate products and programs. Since your subscribers will be signing up to get notices about products, you will essentially have an advertising list. With a list like this, you can send email daily, twice a week, once a week, or any other mailing schedule you’d like. And your email will just be brief sales blurbs about products related to the topic of the list.

Choose the topic of your list first though of course, and choose the mailing frequency you plan to use. You won’t have happy subscribers if they sign up to receive sales notices and coupons about home decor, only to find you sending them sales notices about motorcycle parts. You’ll also upset them if you said you’d send email once a week, and they find themselves getting it every day instead.

2. A tips list. This is another easy type of email list for affiliate marketers to create, because it doesn’t require much time or effort to write. A tips list will focus on one topic of course – let’s say gardening for instance – and each mailing will contain one or more gardening related tips. Along with the tip of course, will be a small blurb about a related gardening product, and an affiliate link.

Tip lists are usually good to send out once a week, though there are some successful ones which can be sent out daily. A “recipe of the day” type of list is an excellent example, because you can send daily dinner recipes or ideas to subscribers.

3. A newsletter style list. This is the most involved type of mailing list, but it can be quite profitable over time. When a newsletter style list is done well, it’s very informative and focused on the given topic. Readers appreciate the quality and breadth of information, so they become quite loyal. And over time those loyal readers will start buying almost anything you recommend, plus they’re more likely to tell their friends about your newsletter too, and that will of course build your subscriber base.

Newsletter style mailing lists can go out once a week too, or if they’re fairly long and involved they’ll usually work as a monthly or twice monthly publication. Long and involved newsletter style mailing lists take some time to prepare, format, and edit though, so be prepared to do a bit more work if you choose to go with this style for your affiliate promotions.
