Using YouTube To Your Affiliate Marketing Advantage
Unless you have been living under a rock for the last few years you are undoubtedly aware of the YouTube phenomenon. Without a doubt YouTube has changed the way we live, work, play and do business.
Almost anyone has the ability to create a video and share it on YouTube to be potentially viewed by hundreds or even thousands of people. From a business standpoint YouTube videos can be a valuable addition to your marketing arsenal.
Today I would like to offer you a few ways that you can add YouTube to your marketing mix.
Making a YouTube Video is so simple a child can do it. As a matter of fact kids do make YouTube videos. All you have to do is grab your digital camera, prepare a short script, push the record button, upload your video to YouTube and you are an instant celebrity.
Okay, so you have the video uploaded, now what?
1. Post that same video on your blog. If you don’t have a blog. Get one for free at www.wordpress.org . Video blogs, also known as vlogs are wildly popular and are an awesome way to deliver your message to another audience. Video blogs will help improve your branding and will allow you to take advantage of your “likeability” factor. A Video blog will give your current customers, new prospects, and casual viewers the opportunity to learn more about you. We all seem much more inclined to purchase from those people we feel as if we know and like.
2. Create a “how to” video with a twist. In other words create a slightly different slant than you would in your normal newsletter. Instead of adding another long, boring article, mix up the newsletter with a link to a “how to” video. Make sure you track your links, because chances are really good that your click throughs will improve using this technique.
3. Social Networking. Link to your YouTube Video in your favorite online forum, chat rooms, and message board communications. This is a great way to not only share your message but it provides your viewers with an opportunity to see and hear who you are. This will definitely help your branding. When prospective customers have a face, voice, and personality to associate with a product or service they tend to remember you more easily. You are trying to create an awareness and recognition in the eyes and minds of your prospects. When they have a need in the future, they won’t need to go to Google or the yellow pages, they’ll come directly to you.
4. Pay Per Click ads. Using PPC ads linking directly to a YouTube video that is embedded on your web page is an effective strategy to not only share a message, but to also market products and services. Everyone is on the look out for free content, especially if that content is informative and entertaining. Share the benefits of your products and services in your message.
Okay, so what types of YouTube Videos seem to work best?
Well, there really doesn’t seem to be any concrete rules. Some of the most effective commercials in the history of advertising have been produced on extremely low budgets. The main thing to remember with commercials is you have to remember the medium you are using to get your message across.
YouTube has become wildly successful as a marketing medium because it is viral. People love to share videos with their friends, family, and co-workers. Think about it, people email links to each other, videos are talked about on blogs, and one viewing can quickly multiply until hundreds or even thousands of people who have viewed your commercial.
