5 Reasons Why Writing an Article Is Better Than a Poke in the Eye with a Sharp Stick

Can you make money AND save yourself time and effort at the same time?

Well, apparently the answer is YES.

My friend, Sandy Martini, has made a crusade (and a business) out of showing us entrepreneur-types how to follow the sage advice to “work smarter, not harder.”

She’s got a strategy she calls “re-purposing” and it is a godsend for those of us who have too much to do and too little time to do it. And the best thing is it’s not just for online businesses – it’s a concept that works for anybody.

Here’s the idea – you take information you’ve delivered in one format and use it in a different way.

What?! You mean I can do that? Isn’t that cheating?

Absolutely not.

We all have a preferred style of learning- some of us are primarily visual, some of us are auditory and some of us are kinesthetic. By offering your subject matter in different formats, you are actually enhancing your audience’s learning experience (and the likelihood that they’ll better understand what you’re saying).

And it has the added bonus of making your life a whole lot simpler.

Let me show you what I mean. Let’s say you’ve written an article that’s of interest to your Core Audience. Here are 5 specific ways to re-purpose your content (besides submitting it to online article directories).

1. Break the article into bite-sized chunks and use them for blog posts

2. Record the article and turn it into a podcast to post on your website

3. Rework the article and submit it as a press release

4. Expand the article and offer it as a teleseminar

5. Combine the article with others and create a compilation e-book

How simple is that? (And much better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick, I’d say.)

You don’t have to do all 5 re-purposing strategies at once, or ever. Just do what feels manageable for now. You can always add on more later if you choose.

The purpose of this is to increase your exposure, grow your business and bring in more money as simply and efficiently as possible. I mean, if you wanted to work hard, you would have been born a Puritan, right?

So my advice (unasked for, I know) is to peruse your files right now to see what content you’ve got lying around that can be re-purposed into something new.

Well, after much internal ado, my blogsite is finally just moments away from being “viewer ready.” I’m very excited not only to have a more complete web presence for Crackerjack Online Marketing (finally!), but also to start blogging. I’m really looking forward to being able to communicate more interactively with you.

I’m getting more and more involved in the world of “product launches” (which is basically a fancy way of describing the targeted marketing campaign you use to create anticipation and momentum for a new product or program so your audience is eager to buy). One of the things I want to use the blog for is to report on various launches (my own and my clients’) so I can really show you the behind-the-scenes elements that go into a successful promotion.

You may have noticed – I’m very big on creating information products. They are fabulous not only as a stream of passive income, but equally important, as a way of enhancing your credibility and letting you stand out as an expert. (In fact, if you’re looking for some help in that area, watch for a special announcement about an upcoming tele-intensive I’ll be doing very soon.)

I’ve learned the hard way that having a product to offer -even a high quality one- doesn’t automatically translate into high sales. You’ve got to know how to present it in a way that makes your audience’s mouth water! That’s where an official “launch strategy” comes in handy.
