The following tip is from the Special Report, “43 More Tips on Giving Knock Their Socks Off Presentations”

Always use the microphone when it is available. It is surprising to me when a presenter opts to ignore the microphone. I’ve experienced speakers who say, “I have a loud voice” and because they don’t know how to use a microphone, choose to speak without it.

It is to our and our listeners’ advantage to request the presence of a mike and then make use of it. Without a microphone, a presenter can’t vary his or her voice quality sufficiently to achieve the personal, conversational tone that is both friendly and persuasive. With a good microphone, used properly, you can speak softly and personably, and then emphasize your points with more force. the variations are limitless.

For years (at least 6 or 7) I have been reading computer technology columns by Fred Langa, first on his LangaList and then when he merged with Brian Livingston’s Windows Secrets.

Yes, I admit I am a geekette and love this information. They send two versions – one paid and one unpaid. For the Holidays they will give a full three months of the paid-for issues, as long as you haven’t had a subscription before and sign up at http://WindowsSecrets.com/holidaygift by Dec. 31.

Perry Belcher, successful Internet marketing guru has created three super videos about Social Media Marketing. You will find the first at: http://tinyurl.com/5r9wn7 The second, “I Don’t Have Time for Twitter or Facebook” at: http://tinyurl.com/7mrfl4 and the third, “7 Secrets of
Social Media” at http://tinyurl.com/7o8taz

Warning Note: Perry uses very down to earth words so might offend some people. He is just who he is – himself.

Theme: THEME

You are wondering if I made some sort of typing error. The theme for this section is THEME? Yes, that is right. I chose it because when I received a current e-zine from Maria Marsala, I was turned on by her great idea that rather than making resolutions that are soon forgotten, we should pick a Yearly THEME. In her words, “THEMES can make your year fun and focused. They’re much easier to create or use and they last much longer than a list of resolutions.”

I have even written a recent blog about the idea. She is right on, because every time I have made use of a THEME, it has helped make a presentation, a storytelling performance,
a workshop, an article, a press release, or even “Portfolio Potpourri,” flow with ease. So why not this year’s focus?

You will find Maria’s brilliant article by visiting http://www.coachmaria.com/articles/yearlytheme.html</a

“Pick a THEME and work it to exhaustion… the subject must be something you truly love or truly hate.” – Dorothea Lange

ONE-ON-ONE COACHING PROGRAMS BY CHRIS KING FOR YOU!

I have been asked so many times if I offer coaching, I have decided to make my workshops global and custom designed to work one-on-one.

There are six programs in all. I plan to highlight each in an issue of both Portfolio Potpourri and Random Tips and Productive Resources. The following is an example.

How to Create a Dynamic and Effective Newsletter (print and/or electronic): Whether you are creating a newsletter to market yourself or your group, to inform and share information, or to further the appreciation for your passion, you will learn how to capture your audience using
practical techniques.

You will learn, examine and discuss the necessary elements of a successful newsletter and the differences between print and electronic newsletters. We will explore the techniques
(including content, writing, style, layout, design, printing /e-mailing and public relations) that work together to produce a winning publication. You will create a rough draft that you can use to start your own newsletter.

To find out all about the other programs, visit http://www.creativekeys.net/programs.htm To find out more about what is included, e-mail Chris at chris@creativekeys.net

Also, if you have some great resources you would recommend, let me know.
