If you’re an affiliate and selling anything through Clickbank, there’s a lot of noise and competition. One way to get noticed above the crowd is to offer an incentive in the form of a bonus.

Be Sure of Your Copyright… or Wham!
The web makes it easy to copy and paste. When you see a great photo it can be very tempting to snag it for your own use. The problem is every bit of code, design, text, graphic or photo belongs to someone.
One guy had 30+ images on his site. He thought he could get away with removing the watermark.Nope… there’s a digital watermark embedded in the file. Now the owners of the photos want one thousand dollars per photo, or go to court. Ouch!
If you bought images on a CD, or got them with a template, it doesn’t mean you have the right to use them. I’d double check with the person who sold you the templates. (If he hasn’t packed up his wagon and disappeared. 😉
Same deal with outsourced content on your site.Without the proper agreements in place, you
could have problems down the road. (We’ll talk more about this topic in the Wednesday Dynamic Media FAQ session.)
At the very least, make sure you have work for hire agreements in place for any content you
didn’t write. For photos, get them from iStock http://www.cdzn.com/isp
because they’re only a dollar each. For one lousy buck, you stay out of trouble and get to use the photo on your PDFs,websites and blogs.

The Future of Search and SEO
The 18th International World Wide Web Conference wrapped up in Madrid a couple of weeks ago. It’s the annual get together of the leading propeller heads and computer scientists. They submit research papers and discuss the future of search,which eventually becomes SEO in the future.
My original whitepaper on Themes, Reputation and Topic written in 2000 was inspired by papers
submitted at this annual conference in 1999. In it, I described how Google works and still works
to this day.
Now, I don’t know if anything as big as Google will come out of this conference. But I do know
that many of these computer scientists will be going to work for Google, or perhaps starting
their own search engines. So if you want a catch a glimpse of SEO in the future, you can download and read these research papers.
