10.5. Twitter is Officially Not Stupid?
I’m seeing a lot of Twitter users following 5,000 people with 4,000 followers… yet they’ve made 0 posts.
Sadly, much of Twitter has degraded into, “Have your autoresponder contact my autoresponder and they’ll do data.”
This oddity is caused by services that will find and auto subscribe you to other Twitter users based on keywords. The silliness happens when the bots of the people you follow, automatically follow you back.
Direct Messaging (DM) spam has become so rampant due to the “auto follow you back”
syndrome, that most people are ignoring the DMs.
So what’s the point of having Twitter? May as well go back to email. No wait… that gets filtered. Maybe I’ll just pick up the phone.
In spite of the silliness, Twitter can be a useful tool. For example, if you’re doing the Goobert method of conversational marketing, it’s a good way to follow “A” list bloggers in your niche.
Go to Technorati.com and search the keywords for your niche. The higher the authority, the
more popular the blog. Visit those blogs and see if they provide a link to their Twitter feeds.
The first thing bloggers will do after making a post, is broadcast it on Twitter. If it’s a hot topic in your niche, you can be one of the first to comment on their post.
Then, depending on how popular the blog is, you can expect anywhere from 50 to 1,000
visitors to your site, because of your comment. The more useful, insightful, pithy, or relevant
your comment is, the more traffic you’ll get.

New in the Dynamic Media Vault…
* 80 minutes of social media marketing
* The four hottest niches to be in this year
* Insight & wisdom from System Intensive
* FAQ sessions that answer your questions
* SEO tips that will improve your rankings
Last week was a busy one, because I spoke for over four hours at Ken McCarthy’s System
Intensive. I spent two days preparing outlines and notes. Most of which will end up in the
Vault, sooner or later. 😉
Sunday I went for Dim Sum with my wife Amy, Ken McCarthy, Sherman & Sarah Hu and Christian Weselak (the PPC Ninja).Normally I don’t share personal stuff, but this is what matters… real friends.
Not 20,000 pretend friends who follow you on Twitter, I’m talking real friends. The kind
who would let you crash on their couch for three days if you needed to.
WHO you know will always be more important than the How or What. Cultivate real friends
and real long term relationships, because that’s what truly matters in business and life.
Everything else is just an illusion.
The superficial friending of everybody is a waste of time. Helping people achieve their goals, reliably and repeatedly is better than all the pretend friends, socializing and networking events.
What truly matters is helping people get to the information they want, when they want it,
and helping them succeed. That’s what members get in my Dynamic Media private site.
You can too: http://www.dynamicmedia.com
That’s it for this edition my friends. Thank you for reading. Until next time, here’s wishing you all the best for online success.

P.S.
You may have heard that Dynamic Linking doesn’t work anymore. Google now spiders
Javascript and it trashed the nofollow tag for PageRank sculpting.
So what can you do?
Good old fashioned link sculpting with regular links. Some of your friends already know how to do it. It’s inside the private site.
Look for Link Sculpting 101 in the Dynamic Media Vault. Membership is less than a dollar
a day. I hope to see you inside.
