The Info Marketer as Outdoorsman
The great outdoors means different things to a lot of different people. A nice little cabin on a full package resort is good for some. But for others, it’s just too close to civilization. They
prefer the great adventures of whatever extremes the natural world has to offer. Scaling tall mountains or rafting down an exotic river is worth more to them than anything on a concrete
street. These desires for non-manmade thrills and experiences are innate in a lot of people out there. People want to be put to the test to see what the world really has to offer and what excitement they can get out of it.
Consequently, these adventures make for good info marketing topics as well. If you’re the adventurous type, there are people out there just you. That said, you stand to gain a lot of success as an information marketer for adventure information.
You can probably think of loads of topics right off the top of your head, but here are a few to start:
— Canoeing, kayaking, and rafting: This is a favorite of mine. I learned to canoe when I was young and have since gone rafting in the Rockies. A writer I enjoy very much, Paul Theroux, has
written a lot about this. Even within his articles and stories, he writes extensively about the conditions of what a kayaker experiences. Everything from high winds to encountering
exotic people…it’s all down a river someplace. This can be something for you as well. People who are novices or experts on the art of paddle and keel are always looking for info on new gear, destinations, and safety tips. This is an exciting info topic with many followers. Why not give them what they need?
— Mountaineering: My cousin is big on this. In his garage, he always keeps coils of rope, picks, and spikes that he can grab at a moment’s notice to head off to scale some peak anywhere in
the world. Climbing mountains has become something of a cottage activity, and climbing is even done indoors. But there are those who are still serious about braving the extremes to
see the world from its summits. Again, there isn’t a lot of solid info out there about even the most basic safety and gear knowledge. A good mountaineering info marketer has all of
this info on hand and can regularly deliver it to a client base of likeminded types.
— Jungle and safari: This used to be the realm of macho, big-game types wanting to conquer what they had read in similar sensation adventure stories with a tan helmet and elephant gun.
But today’s society is different, especially in regards to this part of the world. People really want to see some flora and fauna that is different from the Western World, examine it, and even
live in it. Of course, the threat of health risks and a landscape that is so removed from their own often scares them off. It shouldn’t. If you are someone who has experienced these things
and has the continual love to share that info with others, your info marketing business can be created based on what you know about those earthly realms that sport the most exotic
natural surroundings.
— The extremes: How was your last bungee jump? Got your parachute for some skydiving on Saturday? I have a helicopter pass to go skiing in the Swiss Alps. All of this sounds a little
out there, but there are those who really want to go to the extreme in outdoor adventure. Snowboarding is good, but snowboarding off big peaks is better. If you are going someplace tropical, you better get down under the sea to see its local marine life. These are the extremes and they are for those who are really brave. The audience for this information might be exclusive, but they do have a sizeable population. It is one that would want information regularly and one that can pay for someone to show them how they go to the next logical extreme adventure.
Human life is meant to be lived, and our planet offers that method of living right in our own surroundings. Information marketers who love the experiences and adventures taken from
our world can create their own success based on these adventures. From this, a new adventure can be born: your own continual personal success.
