Weekend Success Bulletin

On Wednesday, I told you a little about money coaches.

Since then, I’ve received a few questions about who these people are, what they do and how you can contact one.

First, let me expand a little on what a money coach does. Most people are familiar with financial planners. These are the people who advise you on investing your money, how to structure loan payments, and everything else related to making money using money.

On the other hand, money coaches don’t tell you how to invest your money; instead, they show you how to save and make the most of your money. Typically, you’ll meet with a money
coach once a month while establishing your game plan and they will review your spending and help you tighten your belt, so to speak.

For their services, you pay a consultation fee, rather than doling out a percentage of your investments. This is certainly an interesting role to play in someone’s life. It’s like having a
money guardian standing behind you, making you really consider the implications of every dollar you spend. Some people may need this sort of motivation to save, and others may just like to have another person there to give them ideas.

Either way, as I mentioned before, there is certainly a moneymaking opportunity in the field of money-saving. Money coaches can charge around $1,500 for their consulting,
although it will vary case by case. Of course, you can’t just start a business like this without credentials, so a background in banking and investing will help by lending credibility to your
claims.

However, if you want to contact a money coach for your own personal finances, simply get in touch with a local financial planning service and ask whether they offer money coach
consulting. Spending money to save money is one thing a lot of people warn against; however, in this case, it may be one of the smartest financial moves to make.
