Michael Newman’s latest ‘e-Wealth Daily’ article:
One of the essential traits of a successful entrepreneur is their ability to always be on the lookout for new opportunities. It doesn’t matter where they are or what they’re doing; they are
always thinking of ways to improve or capitalize on their ventures.
In order to do this yourself, you have to start thinking outside of the box and using inspiration from a variety of sources. Just because you may be in the information marketing business, for
example, doesn’t mean you should only be looking within that industry for ideas on how to improve and grow your business.
When you do this, if becomes more difficult to grow, innovate and carve out a specific place in the market for your company. The truth is that many of the more successful companies out
there, like Microsoft, Apple and Virgin, take ideas from a number of industries to better improve the quality of what they offer.
By looking at what the leaders in various industries do to better serve their customers, you’ll begin to notice how diverse they truly are. Apple, for example, models their retail locations after a hotel concierge. Why? Because they don’t feel that the best way to serve customers is through traditional retail methods. They came to this conclusion after researching what customers had to say about customer service experience. In customer service polls, the winners were always hotels, not retail stores.
Another innovative idea I saw recently was a local artist’s perception on something we all own — maps. In a series about the city I live, the artist composed maps of a number of different neighborhoods. However, instead of using street names and the like to describe the areas, he wrote what could be found on the street using the geography of the neighborhood. For example, his map says: restaurant, bar, restaurant, boutique, etc., to identify the various sites that make
up the neighborhood. It’s an interesting concept that’s creating quite a buzz around the city.
If you’re looking for a way to grow your business and separate yourself from the crowd, start looking to new places for inspiration. Looking at what works in other industries may help
your business become more complete!
