Why Relationships Matter in Business
This sure is a busy time of year. With all of the running around and last-minute year-end preparations, it can be easy to forget about some of the smaller details of our lives and our
businesses. For instance, many of us are busy rushing to and from appointments, purchasing Christmas gifts, dealing with a slumping economy, and trying to remember to take care of the
mounting daily tasks that fill our lives.
However, as a business owner, especially in economic conditions such as this, it’s important to maintain and strengthen the relationships you have. This is an excellent time of year to remind your clients and customers that you are still there for them, and that you’re ready to take on their next
project.
Sending a small gift to your customers this holiday season could be one of the smartest business decisions or investments you’ll make all year. A gift says that you value your customers and that they can be comfortable and trusting towards your business.
It may produce some immediate results, as well. Perhaps your sign of appreciation for their business will spur a new project, purchase or venture.
These days, more than usual, it’s important to take advantage of and continue to improve on your business relationships. As people and companies are looking to cut costs wherever and
whenever, how they perceive your business can play a huge factor in their decision to move elsewhere. If they sense loyalty, appreciation and commitment from your business, it becomes much more difficult for them to go abandon you. Contrary to popular belief, business isn’t always about the best prices or the bottom line; much of it depends on relationships.
By keeping yourself current in the minds of customers, you’re also giving yourself a better chance to expand your business through referrals. For instance, if a customer of yours is in a meeting with one of their clients and looks across the desk to see the gift you’ve sent, they should be quick to refer your company to the client if the scenario is fitting.
Get into the holiday spirit and attempt to bolster your business and continue to build and maintain the relationships that you’ve built over the years.
