Weekend Success Bulletin

I feel sorry for perfectionists. You probably know the type. The person who has to do everything perfectly, whether it is their first time or their hundredth.

The perfectionist is precise and calculated and does everything they can to predict and then deliver upon a desired future. And when things work out, the perfectionist feels invincible. But, when something goes awry, well, things begin to fall apart for the perfectionist.

Worrying about what went wrong consumes the perfectionist and, during this time, they could miss out on further opportunities.

That’s why I’m glad I’m not a perfectionist. Sure, I really like to see my plans fall seamlessly into place. Sure, I like it when what I’m doing works out on the first try. But, I know that this isn’t always going to happen, because it simply can’t happen.

Now that many businesses are online, there’s a whole new world of problems that can come your way. Web sites crash and sometimes take time to rebuild. Maybe in the future this won’t happen anymore, but why wait that long?

You see, learning from mistakes and problems is part of what makes you stronger and more adapted to life as an entrepreneur. Mistakes show us that we aren’t perfect and should never try to attain perfection.

In the next few weeks, I hope that you’re trying something new. Whether it’s working on an invention, starting a business or searching out new ways to make money, I hope you’re taking a few chances and learning from your ups and downs. The only way to improve is to learn, and we learn the most when we’re face to face with our mistakes

Sincerely,
Adrian Newman
