Add Some Pizzazz to Your Info Marketing Web Site

Some business entrepreneurs are all about the flash; the confetti, the pizzazz, the stars, the fireworks…all of the gimmicks that drive people wild. They want to use this stuff for their business.

To get the flash and to drive their clients into ecstasy, entrepreneurs will stoop to just about any level. Brightly colored banner ads and toothpaste smile promo photos are used by business folks to bring in customers and ultimately to bring the cash into the register.

When you see this stuff, especially so much in today’s society, it usually comes across as a bit silly. When people stoop lower and lower to get money in their pockets, their antics can seem completely ridiculous. You wonder if they have any shame or pride in themselves.

For information marketers, this is often the feeling. You’re an info marketer. You work off facts, solid information, and important content for clients’ use. Such silly tricks are unnecessary, right? Of course, you often wonder if there’s anything to all of that flash. For one, it can be a bit of fun to throw a bit of a party for your clients. For another, is flash so bad? I mean, how often have we all given in to the shoe, gum, or drink ad that had wildest images imaginable and went out and bought the product? Sometimes flash is shallow and nonsensical, but a little bit of it can be necessary, even helpful, in your information marketing business.

You might have come to a point where you feel a bit of flash could stimulate your business a bit. If that’s the case, you are in luck. There are some decent ways you can make your business come alive with some discreet flash additives. Don’t worry — no stunts or cheesy themes are needed. What you can use is some real, sharp info flash.

To start, the best place to flash up your business is on your business web site. This is what people will likely see when they come to check out your information marketing business. Now I’ve written in the past that, for an information marketing web site, you should keep some basic constraints when creating it. An attractive but not overtly distractive design with well-written, organized content pages is all you need. But you can
add certain flashy features to make it more attractive. A news stream from a reliable source, a message board page, and even a short video introduction by yourself are all good additions to your web site. You can update your homepage with some fun caricatures or comical anecdotes that your clients would enjoy when they come to your site. As well, links to your business’ social network pages can give clients a fun way to
communicate with you in an informal way.

You can also add some flash to your products. Obviously, most of your information products are full of words and written content, but don’t forget to give them some more visual additions. The odd picture, cartoon, or graphic can add the slightest amount of tasteful flash and make both your digital and print products that much more interesting to clients.

One option that isn’t as common these days is the route of direct mail. With everything going digital these days, many pros have given up on sending out paper material through the mail to clients. It’s understandable, because this stuff can be costly to both print and mail. But giving up on it altogether isn’t always a good solution. Suppose you get an interesting promotion idea and would like to improve sales on your information products. One way to get your clients’ attention is to send out a paper promotion notice that will surprise and entice them. You can design one with more color and creative ads that will stir their mind, driving renewed interest back to your info marketing business. Again, a little flash and surprise can go a long way.

People sometimes ask if there are any rules for adding flash material to their info content. The most honest answer is no, there isn’t. The only thing you have to remember is discretion. Adding flashy material is fun and can really spice up your products, but only in small doses. If you think you’ve added too much, you likely have. Don’t be afraid to pass it off to others to have a look at and get their feedback. They’ll tell you if it’s
tacky or tasteful.

Funny as it sounds, it can be tough being flashy. Most information marketers just want to make their material appealing to the people they are certain will buy their products. That’s fine. But don’t be afraid to spice your own material up once in a while. The smallest dose of flash can really send your info marketing business sky high.
