If you know you need video for your WP site, but aren’t up to the tech challenge, WP Video Commando may be the player for you.

Ideally, your videos should be “apparently” hosted on your own site, so you don’t lose visitors to other videos that YouTube tempts people with. You can accomplish this by embeddeding videos hosted on YouTube, but there’s still a risk of people leaving for YouTube’s greener pastures, and you have to figure out how to do the embed, figure out the right size, etc.

You could host your videos on Amazon’s S3, but again there are complications: getting everything “just right,” like video size, the type of control bar, those fancy “buy now” buttons that appear at just the right time, is way too hard for most of us.

So Ali G created WP Video Commando to make it easy for us who are tech-challenged. It can:
• Hide any reference to YouTube when you embed a YouTube video
• Provides a wide range of video custom appearance features (e.g., autoplay and hide the play controls so the user can’t stop it.)
• Choose the video size you want in one click, or specify your own custom size
• Brand any video with your own logo that will appear where ever you want on the video.
• Have the “buy now” button appear and any point in the video you choose

All these features and more are available with WP Video Commando.

This player is especially for the non-technical among us. There is no coding, no need for expensive and tricky S3 hosting, yet it provides complete customization.
