“Banner blindness” is something that must be confronted by every marketer. People can ignore banners and not even notice they are doing it.

Now, Craig Sowerby has released EWS Top bar, a WordPress plugin to place a “ribbon” or “bar” across the top of your WordPress pages so capture the attention of your visitors so they will see your opt-in or other message.

With the ribbon, you can create a message as subtle or as glaring as you choose. With this plugin, you can:
■ Add links to any content you want your readers to see
■ Choose the color and the text style so your ribbon fits with your site design
■ You can show the ribbon by default or you can hide it until the reader clicks a button to show it.
■ Integrate the ribbon with your autoresponder; all the top autoresponders are supported
■ Build multiple ribbons that rotate after a delay you choose

This is just the beginning of what you can do with this new plugin. Get the whole story here: EWS Top bar

By the way, IM NewsWatch is using the plugin to add an opt-in ribbon at the top of this page (to demonstrate it for you) during the plugin’s launch. The content was easily added using the plugin’s admin menu.
