Seth Fiegerman says, “Google‘s venture capital arm is turning its attention to Europe.

Google announced on Thursday that Google Ventures will launch a $100 million fund to invest in European startups. The operation will be based out of London.

“We believe Europe’s startup scene has enormous potential,” Bill Maris, a managing partner at Google Ventures, said in a statement. “We’ve seen compelling new companies emerge from places like London, Paris, Berlin, the Nordic region and beyond — SoundCloud, Spotify, Supercell and many others.”

Google Ventures started in 2009 to provide funding as well as technical support and mentorship to a range of startups”.
