To answer that question, I analyzed my top 10 articles and spoke with the sources from those pieces to find out the secret for writing catchy headlines.
1. Use numbers to make your headlines pop.
Love or hate BuzzFeed but they brought headlines with numbers to the forefront. While listicles have waned in popularity, the power of adding numbers to your headlines haven’t. It’s where you place numbers within the headline which is the real secret sauce. For example, you don’t always have to add your number at the beginning of the headline. You could always place them somewhere in the middle or at the end of your title.
