One thing almost all internet marketers need is a website (the exceptions being those who use only social media accounts or email accounts to market their products or services, and one thing needed for a website is hosting. Naturally, we want to have the lowest cost hosting that will actually meet our needs.

There are hundreds (possibly, thousands) of hosting services around the world to choose from.

We know the dangers of choosing the lowest bidder to host your site. When ownership of IM NewsWatch transferred in 2011, we also changed hosting company to one that, despite the appearance of substantial market share along with a low price, failed terribly in its duty to keep its servers running and our site visible.

Two other hosting companies we used for other sites went out of business within 3 months of our placing our sites on them.

Even now, we are again seeking better hosting for IM NewsWatch. The current host is substantial; it has good support; our site doesn’t go down; but the hardware and infrastructure is too slow to handle the amount of traffic we receive.

How can you avoid the problems we had in our choice of a host? Fortunately, from time to time, a review is published that points you in the right direction.

You can use Google to find reviews that will help you decide. But it’s worthwhile checking the age of the review since over time hosting companies change leadership or marketing focus, and what you read in a review a year or two old may no longer be true.

The most recent review we have found is at the WhoIsHostingThis? site. Its review is particularly valuable to many of our readers, mostly small businesses and individuals, whose budget doesn’t have room for the priciest hosting.

The hosting companies being reviewed have more expensive options, but the reviews focus on their low-end, low-priced options. You can read the whole review here:
